Exciting Program Shaping Up!
With less than 3 weeks to go, an exciting program of workshops is shaping up. Workshop descriptions are coming in and will be up in 3 days time. In addition, our friends at the Massachusetts Coalition for Healthy Communities are organizing a "Relocalize Massachusetts" conference on Sunday, October 18, 2009.
Help Spread the Word
Help us reach out to organizers, activists and social change organizers who could learn from or contribute to the dialogue we hope to build at the Grassroots Use of Technology Conference. Download our print materials or promote the event through Facebook or become a fan of the Organizers' Collaborative and keep in touch.
Offer a workshop!
Thank you for your interest in presenting a workshop. We now have a full program and are no longer accepting workshop proposals. Visit the current workshop list (some updates will take place based on consolidating and refining existing proposals). Also feel free to use our "talk back" form to address any concerns.

National Writers Union Co-Locates Digital Media Conference
Facing new challenges with the rise of digital media, the National Writers Union together with PEN New England and other partners is joining the Grassroots Use of Technology Conference with their own conference-within-a-conference: the Digital Media Conference. In addition to asking the question, "Shall we write for free or shall we write for pay?" the conference brings together organizers and writers to bootstrap their digital organizing skills.
Jobs with Justice Joins as a Conference Sponsor
Massachusetts Jobs with Justice is affiliated with one of the nation's premier community-labor coalitions. Among the cutting edge issues the local coalition is taking on are the Employee Free Choice Act, immigrant workers' rights, healthcare access advocacy, and preparing for the G-20 summit in September.
Registration Open!
As we ramp out conference outreach and promotion, our registration page has gone live! While we're out meeting with grassroots activists and organizers to build the conference, you may register for the conference and receive updates about workshops, pre-conference events and technology news of interest from the Organizers' Collaborative.
Setting Up Workshop Tracks: Your Feedback is Needed!
As we reach out to conference presenters and community organizers, we have been reviewing how people organize their thinking about technology and organizing. Right now we have 5 tentative track titles:1. Amplification; 2. Net Activism; 3. Networking & Crowd Sourcing; 4. Organizational Development; 5. Issues & Technology. Your feedback about each of these will help determine the final list. Here's a summary of the typologies that we considered.
Think Outside the Toolbox
This year's conference will carry forward a theme sounded at our 9th edition: Think Outside the Toolbox! That was the title of Nick Jehlen's keynote presentation. It reviewed grassroots campaigns that Nick helped organize and ones in which technology was used to connect people with their objectives rather than as an end in itself.
